E8EnK.Em.56 Rapper Pitbull was given a warm welcome when he arrived at a small town in Alaska after internet pranksters hijacked an online promotional competition and sent him to one of America's most remote areas.

The star asked fans to vote for their local Walmart store on Facebook.com, and he promised to perform at the place which got most 'likes' on the site.

However, the campaign was picked up by comedy website Somethingawful.com and users were urged to send him to the tiny town of Kodiak in Alaska.

Pitbull kept his promise and was greeted by hundreds of fans when he arrived there on Monday (30Jul12). He was also treated to a performance by traditional Alutiiq dancers and handed a 'care package' which included bear repellent.

In a post on his Twitter.com account, he uploaded a snap of himself cradling a local baby, and wrote, "Thank U (sic) Kodiak... I am honoured, truly."
