Fay-Ann Lyons, Bunji Garlin and Asylum, Destra and her band and Roy Cape are set to perform in Guyana tomorrow. ETCETERABUZZ touched base with Lyons-Alvarez yesterday just as she’d landed at the airport.
She commented on the big issue at the moment- that being the statements made by T&T ambassador to Geneva, Therese Baptise-Cornelis. A bit taken aback yet tickled by it all, Fay-Ann said she was very surprised by the former Health minister’s statements.
“ It just goes to show that whenever we’re presented with the opportunity to represent our country, we must be very careful with our words and we must also do research on the audience we’re addressing,” she said. Fay-Ann said Baptiste-Cornelis’ words at the lecture in Geneva left a lot to be desired and said, “ She needs some coaching,” with a smirk.
Fay-Ann is also getting ready to perform at the House of Marley concert on August 30, in Trinidad. The concert which features Marley brothers, Kymani, Damian, Julian and Stephen is considered by the former Road March champ as the best event to hit T&T in quite some time. “This could have only gotten better if Bob Marley was going to be there,” she said, adding that her being able to perform alongside her father and husband on one stage, at such a massive concert event, is a tremendous thing. Encouraging everyone to be part of the upcoming event, Lyons-Alvarez said the soca leg of the show will be like nothing ever experienced by patrons in Trinidad and Tobago.
